Cape Wind Opponents Want Three-Week Extension for Document Review

National Grid fighting the request.

July 20, 2010 /Natural Resources PR News/ -- The controversial Cape Wind project, the proposed offshore wind farm in Massachusetts' Nantucket Sound, is facing another obstacle by way of a time extension for document review by opponents of the proposed wind farm.

The Boston Globe reports that the Alliance to Protect Nantucket Sound wants three additional weeks to review cost and pricing information regarding the price National Grid is going to buy wind power from Cape Wind. The group says it needs more time to review National Grid's data, with the deadline for data review currently set for July 23.

National Grid told the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities, "It is simply not credible to suggest that the alliance has not had time to analyze the filings in this proceeding." Cape Wind officials said a three-week delay could cause the project to miss a deadline to apply for certain federal incentives.
